Beaches, palm trees and endless summers is what makes Florida a great destination to explore. Being that it’s always summer here, I decided to take a day trip to Bok Tower Gardens.
Bok Tower Gardens is a National Historic Landmark located in Lake Wales, Florida. It houses the Anton Brees Carillon Library, said to be the largest carillon library in the world, which is inside of the singing tower. Unfortunately, the Anton Brees Carillon Library is not open to the public (meaning you can’t go inside of the tower), but the outside is quite a view!
The reason the tower is referred to as the singing tower is due to the music it plays every few hours. Not many people know of this hidden treasure in Florida, but once discovered, it is an adventure. The Bok Tower has its own visitor center & exhibit hall full of history of the carillon and why this tower was even built. There is also gardens that surround this beautiful place as well as trails to go on a long hike. This place is also full of wildlife, which includes over 126 different species of birds (that’s a lot of different birds!).
The admission price is a bit hefty – Adult tickets are $20 and child tickets are $10, but it is definitely worth the price, especially when you look at the tower and attend one of the Singing Tower carillon concerts. The concerts start at 1 & 3 p.m. daily with short selections played on the hour and half-hour.
What I like the most of the Bok Tower Gardens is that there is a variety of things to do. It’s easy to spend 2-3 hours exploring everything this place has to offer. From Hiking to Birdwatching, this place is great to go with a friend, spouse or even the whole family. On my last visit, I wasn’t able to explore much, but I am hoping to go back to get some more amazing photos and try out all the activities this marvelous place has to offer.
